The Director General’s Speech

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

The Department of the National Library embodies the nation’s memory and serves as a repository of knowledge, entrusted with safeguarding our collective heritage, culture, and the creativity of our people. Recognizing this pioneering role, the National Library is currently engaged in a strategic initiative aimed at advancing institutional development and accelerating digital transformation. This effort aligns with global trends in knowledge management as well as the preservation and archiving of documents and manuscripts.

The vision of the National Library is to become a National Knowledge Hub and a leading digital center, providing modern services to researchers, intellectuals, and the public through online platforms, mobile applications, and open digital repositories. This vision is grounded in a firm institutional commitment to the highest standards of quality assurance and transparency, and in continuous engagement with stakeholders — our true partners in development — including governmental institutions, universities, public libraries, civil society, and the private sector, all of whom are key contributors to advancing national knowledge and culture.

We firmly believe that realizing this vision depends on the efforts of our qualified human capital and on active partnerships with all stakeholders, working hand in hand to preserve Jordan's memory and to strengthen its presence both nationally and internationally. In pursuing this mission, the National Library consciously contributes to the achievement of national goals and the National Modernization Vision led by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein — may Allah safeguard him and grant him enduring strength.

We pray to Almighty Allah to grant us success and dedication in serving our beloved Jordan, and to make the National Library a true beacon of knowledge, culture, and creativity.
